Fostering Community Wellbeing Through Connection and Creativity

TLP - The Listening Project CIC is dedicated to strengthening community and enhancing individual wellbeing across County Durham. We achieve this through a unique blend of social and cultural analysis, practical support for community-focused projects, and our innovative Listening Post workshops.

Our expertise in Social and Cultural Analysis allows us to understand the nuanced needs and dynamics within local communities. This insight informs our approach and ensures our initiatives are relevant and impactful. We leverage this understanding to assist community-focused projects by providing crucial support in areas such as digital inclusion – bridging the digital divide and empowering individuals with essential online skills – and sourcing funding – helping vital local initiatives secure the resources they need to thrive.

At the heart of our work are our signature Listening Post workshops. These are informal, pop-up group therapy sessions held in accessible community spaces throughout County Durham. Distinct from traditional therapy, our workshops utilize art and music as prompts for conversation, creating a fun, friendly, and participatory environment. Softly chaired by experienced TLP Arts Practitioners, the group dynamics naturally help to build confidence and offer valuable opportunities for social and community engagement. Participants are empowered to engage at their own pace, contributing only as much as they feel comfortable with. The Listening Post provides a gentle yet powerful avenue for exploring emotions, fostering connection, and promoting wellbeing without the pressure of direct mental health discussions.

Ultimately, TLP - The Listening Project CIC is committed to building resilient and connected communities where individuals feel heard, valued, and empowered to thrive

Are You Therapeutically Experienced?

Discover Connection and Wellbeing with The Listening Post Workshops

Are you looking for a different way to connect with others and explore your inner world? The Listening Project CIC (TLP) invites you to experience our unique Listening Post workshops. Delivered in a relaxed and engaging group setting, these workshops offer a gentle and accessible approach to fostering wellbeing.

Our innovative format begins with participants bringing a piece of music or art that holds personal significance. This shared creative expression acts as a natural springboard for conversations, softly guided by a skilled TLP Arts Practitioner. What makes our workshops special is that we address underlying mental health issues without directly focusing on "mental health." Instead, through the power of shared experiences and creative interpretation, we explore universal themes and emotions in a supportive and non-clinical environment.

Our recent trial run of drop-in sessions at Crook Community Centre was a resounding success, proving to be not only enjoyable but deeply helpful. We successfully established a vibrant platform and a mode of engagement that participants found fun, friendly, and genuinely participatory. By fostering a welcoming atmosphere, The Listening Post workshops encourage open communication and create meaningful connections, demonstrating a powerful new way to support emotional wellbeing through shared artistic experiences. Join us and discover the power of listening, sharing, and connecting through creativity.
